Things have been quiet here over the past year after a year of both personal & business challenge. A year of change. A year of heartache & a year finding my place again on this floating blue marble in space.
To all of you who have let me share in their laughter, their love, their journey. It is you I have to thank for making it through 2018. To have gifted me with the earth for my roots to grow. The road is long but you are my passengers & it’s been one hell of a ride.
Thank you to every single one of you that made the Shutter Go Click.

In 2018 I have travelled the country, adventured far & wide to be right there with you amidst those that matter most. From your home to wherever you roam, Shutter Go Click is the artistic alternative to family photography in Yorkshire. To see couples who not long ago I photographed on their wedding days that now have have families. To meet new people that have trusted me to bring those memories home. To be there by your side at such seminal moments in time is a privilege beyond rival. Here’s just a selection of my highlights from my 2018 family sessions.

Every year I get to head out into the world with some frickin awesome people to chase that light, have some laughs & make some magical photos. From engagement shoots to collaborating with the most amazing folks the industry has to offer, here’s my portrait highlights from 2018.

That laughter after you kissed. That time you dropped the rings. That moment you stood in the cold for that long embrace… I was there. That time you did shots of tequila, That time you emptied a piñata over your head. That time the world disappeared for a moment where it was just you… I was there.
The greatest story ever told was the one we told together & together we make Shutter Go Click. This is 2018 in wedding photographs.

It’s blowing my own trumpet time & this year has seen Shutter Go Click in all kinds of awesome publications, blogs & awards. One of my biggest highlights was back in February where as part of Photoshelter’s List I was named one of the top 5 wedding photographers in the world. Later in the year I was also given the huge opportunity to speak for the first time at the Looks Like Film UK photographers meet up. Giving a presentation to a heap of other photographers. That was pretty surreal at the time & I still can’t believe it. But watch this space. That sure as Hell won’t be the last time I attempt to impart my limited wisdom on the masses of camera toting finger wizards.

~ Ryan’s style is classic with an alternative twist & his use of light is wonderful. The morning ‘getting ready’ shots are light-filled and elegant, but later in the day he’s captured the moody drama of the fading light with the glow of the chandeliers & candles, set against the opulent surroundings of the house. ~

~ Choosing Ryan as our wedding photographer was THE best decision as he captured our day perfectly! We were overwhelmed by the photographs. From the initial meeting to the engagement shoot & then the wedding he made us feel so comfortable & everyone commented on how professional yet approachable he was on the day. His innovative, artistic style is like no other & we can’t recommend him enough! If you’re getting married then Ryan is your man. ~

~ Ryan’s work speaks for itself. We love the style of his photo’s & how he can see beautiful images in the most obscure & mundane locations. We were both very nervous about having to pose as neither of us are comfortable in front of a camera, but as soon as we had our first meeting with Ryan, we knew it was going to be fun. Every smile is genuine & we could not be happier with the final images ~

~ It was really important to them both that they were wed in Yorkshire & so held their ceremony at the spectacular Fountains Abbey followed by an intimate party at Ripley Town Hall. There to capture all the goings on just so perfectly was Shutter Go Click Photography, whose images today have us swooning.~

We knew that we had to have Ryan photograph our wedding before we even had a date or a venue! We immediately hit it off and within 5 minutes of meeting we knew that we had made the right choice. On the day Ryan was incredible. His creativity and imagination shines through in every image. Josh and I were so relaxed working with him. His humour and good nature made it feel like we were being photographed by an old friend. We would highly recommend Ryan for anyone looking for an alternative to the more traditional wedding photographers. We now have the difficult job of picking which photos we will include in our album. Wish us luck, we’re spoilt for choice!

As soon as we booked our wedding we knew immediately who we wanted to photograph it :) We didn't want standard, we wanted extraordinary and that's where Ryan came in! We hate having our photo taken but Ryan was incredible throughout the day, keeping us sane and making us laugh through any awkwardness. We had so much fun having our photo taken which is something I never thought I'd say! The photos are literally stunning. The Roger Stevens building is one that I've loved for so long and Ryan captured it in just the best way. I have no words. Best decision of the wedding. Thank you for capturing our silly mismatched robot 60s melting pot of a wedding. You really helped make it perfect. Ps thanks for all the train, bouquet and drink holding. You're a bloody star, you.

THE NORMAN’S, YORK WEDDING
Words cannot describe how amazing our photos are but a few emojis can 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤️😍 There has been so much praise from our family and friends; the phrase, ‘best wedding photos ever,’ has been banded about more times than Ryan told us he loved our dog (and that was a lot!!) I have to agree, they are, by far, the best wedding photos ever. We knew we wanted something different, something that would capture our day naturally yet with a creative edge and that we would never tire of looking at and Ryan delivered this and more. The way he captures emotion is unreal and his use of light is nothing short of genius. Not only is he unbelievably talented but he is the nicest, funniest, coolest guy ever! Spending the day with Ryan was a pleasure from start to finish - it was like being with an old friend. He kept us laughing and relaxed and this is reflected in the images...they are truly wonderful. If you are looking for a photographer like no other, you have found him. We really cannot thank you enough Ryan...you were most definitely one of the highlights of our day and we miss you already!! X

WOLD TOP BREWERY, DRIFFELD WEDDING
We’ve been stalking Ryan on Instagram way before we were even engaged. As soon as the question was asked there was no doubt in either of our minds that this was the guy we wanted for our day! We had a taste of what was to come with our engagement shoot which took place in Scarborough, Ryan took us to every place you wouldn’t think of and the photos are just incredible, we laughed all day and at the end we were just so excited for our wedding! Then the day came...we were so at ease all day. We put our complete trust in Ryan and the previews that we’ve seen so far are just exactly what we wanted!! All of our guests loved him and have all said what an amazing job he’s done. Every day we look at our previews and notice something new! Anyway, bottom line is...get Ryan to take your photograph, whether you’re getting married, want a family shoot or just want some cool pictures!

BAILDON RUGBY CLUB WEDDING
Where do I even begin? On behalf of my husband and I we cannot rate Ryan highly enough. He is a one-man imagination machine! We e-mailed Ryan at the last minute due to issues with our original wedding photographer. As we know he's so popular, we didn't hold our breath. However on the same evening Ryan got back to us saying it was his last free Saturday of 2018 and he was happy to help us! We arranged to meet for a coffee and chat, and it felt like meeting an old friend. We chatted easily about our likes and dislikes and he showed so much enthusiasm and passion for his couples (even though he must have heard this stuff a trillion times!). He kindly offered to take some engagement photos too which really helped us to feel at ease in front of the camera prior to the big day. Ryan stayed in touch and the process was clear and easy. On our big day Ryan felt like a guest. He took control without being bossy, he made everything fun and light hearted, he made sure we had the photo's we'd said we wanted (even when I was having too much fun/wine to care about photo's anymore!) My biggest issue now is that Ryan is not actually our friend and therefore we can't just casually meet for coffee, as he feels like a pal! haha. Although I do plan on roping him in to maternity, birth, newborn and family photoshoots in the future. The wedding photo's arrived in good time and were beautifully presented on a wooden USB stick. The slideshow to music was exceptional and had everyone who saw it in tears of joy. Ryan captured EVERY single moment. The laughter, the tears, the big confetti-throwing bits and the tiny hand-holding ones. The very essence of a very special and unrepeatable day is in the pictures and thankfully we can relive it time and time again! A million times thank you Ryan, we are so glad we got you! What a dude, seriously! We're super picky and have a very particular aesthetic which Ryan's photography suits down to a tee, so he was the perfect choice to photograph our wedding. From the moment we met Ryan he made us both feel so comfortable that it was like meeting up with an old friend for a catch up. On the wedding day itself he made us and everyone else feel super comfortable. He blended in seamlessly to the surroundings, beautifully capturing all of the important moments and interactions. It was truly a pleasure to have him there on the day. His creative eye for portraiture is amazing and when we received the photos we were in awe. We've had the exact same comments as other reviewers here from all our family and friends, namely - "best wedding photos ever!" I honestly can't recommend Ryan enough for all your photography needs, be it wedding, band shots, portraits or anything you might think of. Seriously, what a dude.

Naomi & Alex ~ Ryan, Where do we even start with you? You're by far one of the weirdest, funniest, kindest & friendliest humans We have ever had the pleasure of meeting. A total comedian! We simply cannot thank you enough & we feel so lucky we found someone like you to photograph our wedding day. We knew we didn’t want standard every day wedding photos. We wanted something different, artistic & natural, which happened to be a guy who wears the coolest leopard print shirt with a fag hanging out his mouth cracking jokes the whole day! Seriously- your one of a kind! You fit in with our friends & family like you had known us for years and we was so sad to see you go. We knew you were amazing when we asked you to be our photographer 2 years ago, but seeing our wedding photos today. You have completely blown us away! It may be late a little late in 2019 for a look back on the year that was. Though honestly it’s been hard to try & encapsulate my feelings towards one of the most difficult years of my life. As challenging as it is, it can be both rewarding & therapeutic to strip back the negatives & look at those experiences, adventures & people I have met along the way. To realise perhaps they are just whispers of momentary bleak in a world of colour.
When the sun sets it will rise again & there I will wait… With a camera in hand.
